Wasn't this merged with Given name?

[edit]

Just want to know if this wasn't official... cause I see some articles where née is being redirected to [[Given name#Name at birth|née]] ex. Angelina Jolie. Thank you :) - SUBWAY 19:27, 20 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Given name is not the same as birth name, and they cannot be merged. née is being redirected - the syntax you are showing is called Wikipedia:Piped link. And it is used in a bad way. If you see it, fix it, leaving [[née]]. Staszek Lem (talk) 18:55, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For example, her given name is Angelina... her birth name is (Angelina Jolie) Voight. tahc chat 12:35, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

How do you pronounce nee? It would be helpful to say so in the article. — Loadmaster (talk) 20:22, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I won't edit the article but FYI it would be close to "nay" in english, as in yeas and nays, but singular
Same prononciation as the french word "nez" which means nose 104.200.83.221 (talk) 16:58, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we could add mention about dead names and expiriances of trans people

[edit]

Hi, I've been wondering if the article could mention the topic of 'dead names' and in general of expiriances of trans people with their birth names, and how it is treated by society and various goverments? I would do it myself, but truth be told, I'm not personally sure what could be written in this matter. But I thought maybe it would be an intresting thing to add to the article, if somebody is more knowlegabe about the topic :) Artemis Andromeda (talk) 16:45, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
