Copyvio?

I've removed about half the text from this article as it was copied verbatim from the Nepalese monarchy's the official site (see the "History of the Shah dynasty" section). I have not been able to find a copyright statement anywhere on the website though, so it is possible (but not probable - see WP:CP) that it is allowable. Until a clear statement of allowing its release under the GFDL the content cannot be inlcuded in Wikipedia. Thryduulf 23:41, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Birendra.jpg

Image:Birendra.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

role in nepalese monarchy's downfall

The article makes the claim that Birendra was "seen as a symbol of National unity" and seen as the best king in Nepalese history by his subjects, etc. Which seems improbable and contrafactual given that it was during his reign that a mass popular movement (the 'maoists') arose and took over much of the country, and has now won popular elections overwhelmingly. In other words this claim seems patently false. However, the article does need an analysis section by someone who understands Nepalese politics (ie not me) on the downfall of the monarchy and Birendra's role in it. Although obviously the 2001 royal massacre has some relevance in that as well.jackbrown (talk) 09:21, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Princess Teesha

It is claimed that someone called Princess Teesha is "half daughter" of King Birendra. However, as far as any research or sources disclose, there is no such person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.133.7.237 (talk) 19:38, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Picture

Is this really the best picture of the king? This isn't the Middle Ages any more. We have this new-fangled technique call photography which does a better job at rendering faces than this bitmap-inspired parody of a portrait.
