"obsolete regional"

[edit]

This page says "bioscope" is an "obsolete regional" term for a cinema/movie theater. As far as I'm aware it's still sometimes used in South African English, though today it certainly sounds old-fashioned. But there turns out to be a cinema in South Africa that's actually called The Bioscope. So I think "dated" would be more accurate than "obsolete", which suggests that the word is no longer used at all and by implication that few people would understand it. "Bioskoop" is still perfectly current in Afrikaans, and many South African English-speakers would know it if only for that reason (it's also the everyday Dutch word for a cinema, only spelled "bioscoop"). And since "bioscope" is really only used in South African English (because of the Afrikaans connection), perhaps this should be specified, rather than just "regional".213.127.210.95 (talk) 14:44, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
