Impossible facts
[edit]"Bindi made her first television appearance on the The Rosie O'Donnell Show in 1989." There is no way that is possible if she was born in 1998. I'm thinking that's a typo, but honestly that entire sentance should be removed. It doesn't belong where it is placed, and has no relevance to the article as a whole. 69.66.91.45 04:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's a typo. Bindi's parents DID bring her with them on the TV show a matter off months after she was born.--Marhawkman 04:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- For that matter, her birth was filmed and is featured in the Crocodile Hunter series (episode 1) youcantryreachingme 11:36, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I have a recent photo

Bindi overworked
[edit]Hi I was just wondering why there are no references on this wikipage abut worrys that she is being over worked because of family worrys that busness will slowly die off at there zoo since her dad passed away? --MattyC3350 09:48, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- I would imagine no such reference would exist, as basically that would involve her mother, or someone closely connected to her, publicly stating, "Bindi is overworked because we're worried we won't have jobs if she slows down." Which of course, would never be said to the public even if it WERE true.
- Personally, I would think that continuing Steve's work is proving helpful with the grieving period to a young girl who's lost her father. I was the same age when I lost my father unexpectedly, and I floundered around feeling helpless and hopeless. Eight year old kids don't usually have much "power of action" and so I think people should admire what she's doing. She needs to do it, in a very real way that few people can understand. When and if it gets to the point that being Bindi, Defender of Wildlife" is no longer helping her situation, I think you can well assured she'll quit as a television personality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.30.198.96 (talk) 16:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanksgiving's Day Parade
[edit]Hello. I was just writing because i believe that I saw her in the thanksgiving day parade performing a song about endangered animals but it does not say anything about this in the actual article. Is it not relevent? I believe that it was a great milestone in her career and should be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.114.55.102 (talk) 17:33, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Probably because you havent provided a reference to anywhere that it can be verified. If you register your details and follow some of the articles on how to edit the pages, we would encourage you to contribute your knowledge to documenting that event. Andmark (talk) 04:59, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Do we really need the bit about her "dating" life?

- I agree and I just removed the recently-added "personal life" section. The reference was this which states that the two people concerned live in different countries, so it seems reasonable to conclude that the information is not suitable for an encyclopedic article. dirtgirlworld
[edit]I actually own a fansite for Bindi and one of our admins posted information about Bindi and dirtgirlworld. I was promptly emailed by the creator of dirtgirlworld that Bindi is not affiliated with them in any way (voice, presenter, etc.), and I removed the news item and posted about what happened. This is a rumor that has been going around the web for a while now, but it isn't true. Stephe1987 (talk) 06:19, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Age and status as philosopher
[edit]i think "espouses the conservationist philosophy as her parents" is a somewhat overblown statement to apply to a childs point of view. Can we at least wait a couple years before applying such language? Ive no doubt she is committed to conservation, but she is not old enough to be considered a philosopher, only an advocate.(mercurywoodrose)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:42, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Epistemologically, it's not sensible to pronounce s.o. to be sharing (or espousing) a philosophy, especially one so easily attributed even to historical personalities, just by subjectively and personally relating that subject to that generalization. Even with the (very broad) term 'philosophy' that semms to be employed here, it just doesn't make any sense, besides not being quoted or related or whatever. cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.222.28.92 (talk) 01:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Bindi Irwin's perfect scores, 7 or 8?
[edit]There is a discrepancy. We state "the most perfect scores with seven", but I count eight, and this source also says eight. Which is it? -- BullRangifer (talk) 05:27, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
- I see that there is a hidden editorial note at Dancing with the Stars (U.S. season 21) <!--NOTE: 7 is the correct number. The 30 Bindi Irwin and Alexa PenaVega received for their Charleston in week 9 is not included. They danced that routine as a team, and perfect scores danced by teams are not reflected in each individual celebrity's total.-->
- What justification do we have for counting in this manner? Is there a RS from the official DWTS organization regarding this? -- BullRangifer (talk) 06:06, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

books
[edit]I was hoping to find a list of the books she's authored, since Wikipedia is so often a great source for that information, particularly because it lists titles without cover photos, so it is easy to copy/paste to a document for tracking titles read. Unfortunately, there isn't even a mention of her having written any books at all. Thanks, 75.165.70.33 (talk) 02:59, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Jennifer
Nationality
[edit]A recent edit added to the infobox that Bindi's nationality was "Australian American". As there was no citation given and the article makes no mention of Bindi being a American citizen, I replaced it with "Australian" (which is how she is described in the lede para). However, I did wonder if there might be some truth in this as her mother Terri is a US citizen and therefore could have registered her children as US citizens when they were born (even though they were born in Australia). Certainly given the family's frequent visits to the USA, having both passports would be more convenient for them. So, it seems quite plausible Bindi may hold dual citizenship but does anyone have any evidence to support this? Kerry (talk) 06:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
- She confirms she is a US–Australian dual citizen here: Bindi Irwin has big plans as she marks her milestone birthday (Brisbane Times) — "What's really nice is being a dual citizen both here and in the US so I think I get to vote there as well." --Canley (talk) 10:22, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
- Great, thanks! I've updated the article accordingly. Kerry (talk) 20:12, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Australian vs. Australian-American
[edit]@Stuv3: It's generally a bad idea to replace a cited fact with one that came off the top of your head, because it is hard for other contributors to know what is true. If what you said about him identifying as Australian is true (not saying it isn't; I know nothing about the subject), then please cite a reliable source saying as much. (talk to) Gaelan('s contributions) 13:03, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Stuv3: In your edit summary you say that "Bindi may have an American citizenship only because of her mums ancestry, she doesn't identify as an American and has never lived over there". I agree with you that there is a difference between her being eligible for USA citizenship because of her mother and her identifying as an American. However, the article contains this citation which is a newspaper interview of Bindi Irwin where she talks about being able to vote now that she is 18 years old, and she says "What's really nice is being a dual citizen both here and in the US so I think I get to vote there as well." This would appear to be a "self-identification". Unless you can find a citation in which she subsequently expresses a different point of view, I think the argument that she is an Australian-American is valid. Kerry (talk) 14:46, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
The argument that she is American-Australian is very poor, just because she holds a US Citizenship does not entitle her to be portrayed as an American-Australian. I think it is with logical reasoning to state the she is merely Australian only holding an American citizenship through the ancestry and birthplace of her mother. She was merely pointing out that she has the power to vote because of her ancestry as anyone does who has a parent raised in a different country. Even if she was considered American it is rational to say that she has spent no time in her life being raised in America and only holds ancestry over there. She was born and raised in Australia and would consider herself nothing more then an Australian with an American parent. This source merely points out the fact that she has the power to vote because of her mum; it does not state that she is an American or identifies as an American purely that she has a citizenship through her mother. If i have an English and Sri Lankan parents I am eligible to have both citizenship but i would never call myself Sri Lankan or British only Australian as i was born and raised here and have never spent time elsewhere, similar is for Bindi Irwin. Even if she was to be considered Australian-American this is inexplicable poor editing and poor knowledge as this would entail that she is more American than Australian and has spent no time in Australia, and would entail that she is an American with Australian roots Stuv3 (talk) 22:30, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- We are not writing about you. Wikipedia is based on citations from reliable sources. You are not providing any citations in relation to your claim about how Bindi Irwin self-identifie, just your own opinions. Kerry (talk) 01:42, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
- The only question is what "Australian-American actress" means at Wikipedia, and what the guidelines are for using that designation. I don't recall the guideline but, for example, if the subject self-identified as Norwegian because she had spent a lot of time there and loved the culture, the article would not add "Norwegian". It seems a bit weird to me that someone would be regarded as half American if they had not been born there and had not lived there, but the answer would come from some guideline. Johnuniq (talk) 02:35, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
Johnuniq is exactly right just because some random source cites her as being as having a US Citizenship through her mother, does not automatically regards her as an American-Australian. This is very weird considering she has spent no time living in the US and was not born there. Just because it's a source does not mean she should be considered as an Australian-American. And even if she were this is incorrect and poor editing as it should be American-Australian not Australian-American there is a huge difference, Australian-American means that she is from America which she is clearly not. Stuv3 (talk) 04:48, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
Not a conservationist
[edit]The very first line names her as a television personality and conservationist, giving three references, none of which give any explanation at all about how she is a conservationist or what conservation work and/or organisations she is involved in. As far as I can tell, she is a keeper at her family's zoo. "Conservationist" should either be removed or changed to "zookeeper".07:49, 27 July 2019 (UTC)07:49, 27 July 2019 (UTC)~~
Reportedly
[edit]Now that I've tidied up the details regarding Irwin's alleged marriage, I see that the RS I cited says it is a "reported" marriage and they have no concrete evidence, just circumstantial imagery. Well, it's probably not wrong. Elizium23 (talk) 08:08, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
