Seriously?

[edit]

I don't know who changed the title to "Billie", but if they can't even spell his name right, they shouldn't be making an official wikipedia page about him or moving things around. James Wan, the director of Saw, is the CREATOR of Billy. You know, he sat down one day and constructed him for this movie and named him, and seeing as EVERY time he talks about him he spells it with a 'y', I would say that is dandy proof that "ie" is a load of crap. Please stop making the mistake and passing it on to others.

If you would even like to go over and ask James to get it straight from the horse's mouth, you can do it at the House of Jigsaw (official Saw) message board, or myspace at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=9960495&MyToken=5adfb21a-d6b0-48de-9ff2-a7de4458dfd6 . He will tell you that "Billie" is the incorrect spelling.

And, actually, "Billie" is the spelling for a girl.

Production of Billy

[edit]

Anyone have any behind-the-scenes information about Billy? Who designed him for the movie or anything? ARBlackwood 23:26, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know the specifics, but I recall when he was originally made he was pretty low-budget and was moved by strings and once the series became more high budget he was able to be more mobile and move by himself.--CyberGhostface 23:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It should be in the actual article. But, he never had strings, and there have not been any modifications to the original Billy used in SAW 1. They made 2 robotic Billys used with romote control eyes for SAW 2, and another one for SAW 3. They figured that the real Billy was too fragile and couldn't handle the set any longer, seeing as James made him and he isn't professional at it. He was falling apart occasionally, so once they had more money, they made more high-tech new ones. I personally like the real one best.

spoiler?

name of puppet

[edit]

Why is the puppet named "Billy"? There is no mention of it in the article. 24.98.182.200 18:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its been referred to as such by the creators and people involved in making the film in DVD commentaries and interviews.--CyberGhostface 19:16, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That should probably be mentioned somewhere. I can't be the only one that wonders why it is named what it is named. (24.98.182.200 18:05, 11 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Creation

[edit]

It shows Jigsaw creating Billy in the third film. Why does it say "He's rumored to have been created by the series's primary antagonist John Kramer". It's not a rumor if they show Jigsaw actually MAKING him. As for the supposed novel being made, are there any sources to supply the rumor? JackOfHearts 05:50, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just removed it. We don't need uncited speculation that the user probably just made up for kicks.--CyberGhostface 04:21, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--In my opinion, it isn't clear that he's making it. It was Saw 3. How do you know he wasn't just fixing him or /rebuilding/ him after Adam beat him with the baseball bat? Billy's origin is a secret, and it's nice that way as of now.

As for the novel, I added it because it actually was true. I don't mess around and post about things that aren't real, especially since I'm also a big SAW fan. The only reason I couldn't supply a citation is that none of it is open or ready for public display. It also doesn't help that it's an outside/homage project only being talked about by some of the SAW community that knows of the author, and not a big heavy-duty thing supported by Lion's Gate. I simply heard about it. If you'd like to give me more time, there could eventually be a link. Iwantasmoothie 11:35, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The puppet-making scene in Saw 3 was a flashback taking place BEFORE he kidnapped Amanda, and thus before Adam was ever kidnapped. And even it wasn't, saying that he was only fixing it after Adam gave Billy the beatdown is speculation and original research.
If there's a link, fine. But until then don't post it unless it can be verified.--CyberGhostface 11:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Out of curiosity, is there any recent info on this "novel"? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 06:39, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, uh, who erased what I wrote here? Iwantasmoothie 05:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, it was User:Envidia. They also deleted a bunch more when they added their post about a new image for Billy... Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 04:40, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh..well...as long as you got my message, I suppose I don't have to repeat myself. lol Iwantasmoothie 19:06, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

L-Y or L-I-E

[edit]

There seems to be alot of controversy: Is the puppet's name spelled "B-I-L-L-Y" or "B-I-L-L-I-E"? If it's Billie, then the article name needs to be changed... JackOfHearts 01:48, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--It is not spelled "Billie". That was an error made in some of the special feature SAW dvds. Nobody knows who wrote the title for it in the extra, but James Wan, who created and named Billy, always spells it with a 'y'. In fact, that was always how it was spelled until the mistake was seen and people started using it for some reason.Iwantasmoothie 11:35, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance in other movies

billy photo

[edit]

dont you think that we need a better image of billy ? Envidia

Yeah, I thought so too. I've looked for ones, and I've come up with these: [1], [2], [3], [4]. Any thoughts? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 02:04, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Out of all of those I'd say just the first one.--CyberGhostface 19:01, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should I add it up then? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 23:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that's a good picture choice, because that picture is of a protocol, not what Billy looks like right now. And I know there are tons of other pictures than just those. Iwantasmoothie 19:03, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protocol? All I know is that this was the Billy used for Saw II or something, or at least a promotional pic. It was taken from the production photos for the film (see other production shots). Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 04:24, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't notice any major differences either...--CyberGhostface 21:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you still don't agree, there's this one... Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 01:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uh...what are you talking about? The Billy used as the front picture isn't from SAW 2 at all. It has such clear differences, I don't really understand how they could be mistaken for the real thing. I've seen that Billy elsewhere, and it doesn't even have hair, for one. SAW 2 used two robot Billys, and this is neither of those. It's the first version of Billy that James ever made, thus, a protocol. Then there's the second one he ever made, which I consider the real one, which was used in SAW 1, but never again because they got enough money to start making the robot ones. The one you offered as an alternative is the real Billy, but the picture quality is bad.

Why not use this, or the generic Billy picture, plain and simple. Iwantasmoothie 20:38, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't even think mentioning this is relevant anymore, but I took a photograph from Comic Con 2005 of the Billy prop they used. Here. -Lindsey8417 03:48, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is is possible to get a free image of Billy from Saw IV to show in the Saw IV section? Just wondering or are we ok with the Pictures we have in the Article now? --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ 02:21, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:OriginalBilly.JPG

[edit]

Image:OriginalBilly.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Billy's Viral Videos

[edit]

For Reference for anyone who wants to all all the viral videos found on the web for saw 4. Here they are:

I seen one on IGN but it was in a advertisement link and not a public link for everyone to see. Also there are multiple different versions on one site also to let anyone know. Add to list also if anymore found. They were posted here just in case if anyone wants to include a full list in the article or a note in the article though most of the are just the same video but the name of the site. I only posted 3 of them where Billy said 3 of Rigg's main traps --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ 23:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added a few more Videos to the list. Really I am looking for a "Judge as I Judge" Video if there is such thing so I can put it in the article seeing the onces posted are all of other Traps Rigg had done and the ones above are...lets say copies. If You find such a video post it into the article please. Thanks again --҉ რɫՒ◌§ 9¤ 06:31, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puppet tattoo on campus shooter

Should this be in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.223.204 (talk) 10:56, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats a shame. I'll let the other people decide, but IMO since it was a pretty notable incident it might deserve mention.--CyberGhostface (talk) 14:31, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Only thing is, and this is mainly playing Devil's advocate, short of the man just having a tatoo of Billy on his arm, it doesn't really make any claim that the Billy Doll or anything Saw related directly made him do this. If we do include this does that really mean that everyone with a Billy tattoo deserve a mention? Because that essentially what adding this would imply... Halloween Masks / Doll

[edit]

I have seen Billy dolls for purchase, as well as Billy Halloween masks, so I added them to the article, and am looking for some proper citation. I put them under the initial main article because I was unsure if I should create a whole new section in the page about this matter, when I could just sum it up in a couple sentences. Anyone have any opinions? (Sorry, I am still somewhat new to Wikipedia editing, and don't totally get what is acceptable or not yet.) MaximumMadnessStixon (talk) 16:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose if we ever do a "reception/response" section we could add it there. I don't know if citations are really important at the moment, but there are sticklers who might give you a hard time. But I think its fine.--CyberGhostface (talk) 19:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clown?

[edit]

In the article about evil clowns it says that Billy counts as a clown. Should this be added? I don't think so. Thackery Earwicket, the March Hare 00:01, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all. But I don't see it listed in that article? Mike Allen

Tricycle

[edit]

In Saw IV, when Detective Strahm is interrogating Jill, he asks her why John used Billy and the tricycle. Jill explains that the tricycle was from John's youth, and that he was going to give it to his unborn son, Gideon. Should this be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.57.161.214 (talk) 04:01, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well I guess it doesn't matter, since you already added it. ;) Mike Allen 04:48, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
