This article reads like a press release for Billy Blanks and Tae Bo.

Dispute Discussion December 2005

I'm not qualified to speak to Mr. Blanks' personal history, but Karate was not an Olympic sport and so there could be no U. S. Olympic Karate Team. The closest I am aware of their being an Olympic karate team would have been with the debut of Tae Kwon Do in the 2000 Sydney summer games. Rorybowman 08:18, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Removed own DISPUTE tag. Blanks was a member of the AAU karate team,[1] so I have modified the main article to clarify this. Rorybowman 01:06, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Verbatim copying of text (plagiarism?)

Much of this article's text appears to have been copied verbatim from the biography page on Billy Blanks' own site (http://www.billyblanks.com/about_meetbilly.asp?section=about). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.169.12.26 (talkcontribs) 01:00, 8 November 2006

I removed it. This was particularly egregious because whoever put it there made some effort to change a few words in most sentences to make it harder to detect by Googling. cab 00:33, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Shellie Blanks

Although I do not have a good reference for the assertion that Shellie Blanks was two at the time of Billy's marriage, my source is Answers.com. I suspect that Answers.com source is People Weekly, Dec. 15, 1997, p. 79, but that's just a supposition as I don't have any issues of People Weekly. I'll be blatant here and say the reason I wondered is because she doesn't appear to be his genetic daughter as he is very dark-skinned and she is quite light-skinned. That in itself is not proof, but it was the reason that I looked it up in the first place. For all intents and purposes, however, it would appear that she is his daughter. As I am not that good of a writer, I did not try to work that bit in to the discussion. Benhocking 15:44, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Famous Clients

As I don't believe a legendary Arabian sailor has ever worked with BB, I've changed the link to point to Sinbad (actor) Rojomoke 16:37, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Cardioke

Good catch, Rojomoke ;) Anyway... This sentence bothers me: "They also have a son, Billy Jr., who has acted in a touring production of Fame.[5]and has recently started his own fitness craze, CARDIOKE. www.cardioke.com."

partially because 'fame' is the only part that is linked. Mostly, though, because the insertion of the URL feels very quickly done. Honestly, if I were the suspicious sort, I'd say that it was inserted by someone with close ties to Billy or Billy Jr, and little wikipedia editing knowledge. I feel this section ought to be changed to better incorperate the URL. Perhaps just linking to a wiki page for cardioke. Or adding it as "related" url. Or perhaps removing it all together. 72.147.120.21 07:01, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Marriage

The article says he got married in 1975, but Billy said in an interview on TV in Japan that he got married when he was 18 years old. His wife as 17 at the time. I haven't find any other sources to back this up yet, but it is straight from the horses mouth. If that is of any good use or not, I'm not sure. --121.1.251.112 03:58, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

CSD!?

Why is this article a candidate for speedy deletion? Bigtop 02:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

7 time world champion?

I was shocked to find this on his wikipedia page. Debunked LONG ago.

http://www.karaterec.com/en/competitors/william-blanks/ - 1 silver and two bronze in 1980/81 same on http://www.hickoksports.com/history/wkaratechamps.shtml

In fact, there is no record that I could find that shows Billy ever won a single competition at any level.

I also removed a bunch of stuff that related to his "athlete of the year" (broken link) etc..etc... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gettingitrightthefirsttime (talkcontribs) 04:47, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
