Tone and sourcing

[edit]

Since my removal of a bunch of totally unsourced puffery on a BLP is challenged, I'd like to open up a discussion here as WP:BLP is a policy that isn't subject to an individual administrators personal views. I'd ask that the challenged content be removed or sourced in a timely manner. Thanks. Praxidicae (talk) 16:48, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Praxidicae: We are here to write an encyclopedia. Maybe you don't have fond memories of growing up with British children's television in the 1970s and 1980s, but I do. I will copyedit the article if I have time, as can you. I'm not going to link to the civility and no personal attacks policies as I assume you are aware of them, but if you "have no interest in helping a project that willfully allows and condones harassment, intimidation and stalking", log off and stop editing. There was no personal attack. I commented on the content. And you don't get to tell editors whether they get to edit or not. This page is for discussion of the article, not your opinion of me or anyone else. Praxidicae (talk) 17:01, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Homewood request

[edit]

An IP editor claiming to be the subject posted the following to my talk page June 17, 2021. I removed the paid editing tag after reviewing the article. --- Possibly (talk) 18:58, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"It has been brought to my attention that there is a banner above the entry about me on Wikipedia. The banner appears to suggest that the entry, or some part of it, has been improperly secured. I can assure you that it was certainly neither entered nor improperly secured by ME.
Can you arrange for the removal of this banner, please? I am extremely embarrassed at the suggestion.
In addition I see that weirdly my career seems to have stopped 30 years ago or more, though when I last looked at the page a few months ago, the most interesting part of my professional life (1990 - 2021, spent with the RSC, in the West End, on British television and in the recording studio) was comprehensively covered. Has someone simply deleted chunks? I do not know how Wikipedia works, but am surprised that this is possible, and feel the information should be restored - at least in precis. Quite apart from all that, in the last four years alone I have published 4 more books, won 2 industry recording awards in the USA, been nominated for an Audie and have recorded perhaps 10 audio books for Naxos. I see none of them in the entry. Here is a link about my recently published books: https://www.amazon.com/Bill-Homewood/e/B08RY189RL?ref_=dbs_p_pbk_r00_abau_000000
Obviously I was not responsible for the Wiki posting about me, but if it's going to be there I'd rather it were accurate and useful, and did not impugn my integrity. Bill (In case there are other Bill Homewoods, I am this one: www.billhomewood.com)"
