I'll take a look at this one shortly. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 20:33, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lede and infobox

[edit]
  • We seem to usually hyphenate air vice-marshal?
  • Add No. 145 Wing to the infobox commands?
  • I think you're brushing over his post-war career a little too much - maybe a sentence or two more about Suez and 22 Group?
  • Could add England as place of death in infobox
  • Main text doesn't seem to mention his Legion of Honour

Early life

[edit]
  • "There Crawford-Compton gained"

Second World War

[edit]
  • Suggest mentioning the Second World War itself outside of headings at least once
  • "as a probable kill"
  • "he claimed another Bf 109 as a probable" do you have the date? Currently very vague!
  • The first five paragraphs all begin with dates, suggest switching this up a bit
  • "Another Bf 109 was reported as damaged" by Crawford-Compton or the squadron?
  • "during the engagement"
  • "and this meant he missed" > "and meant he missed"
  • You seem to be avoiding mentioning his promotions?! There's no clear mention of any rank between pilot officer and group captain
  • Was No. 64 Squadron also flying Spitfires?
  • "while flying with No. 122 Squadron was credited with damaging a Bf 109" Do we know when?
  • "operations of the RAF"
  • "Crawford-Compton was appointed wing commander"
  • "and on 9 July, Crawford-Compton destroyed"
  • Clarify command of the wing for me? Some wording in the lede and main text suggest it's his command, but he only commanded the flying part of the wing, i.e. did have an officer above him in command of the wing as a whole?

Later life

[edit]
  • "remained in his acting rank" Per one of my previous comment, I'm not sure what his rank actually was by this point!
  • The Gazette has him already as acting AVM at the time of his promotion?
  • What was he doing after Suez and before Cyprus?
  • A word or two on what No. 22 Group was doing/equipped with?

  • References look good, AGF for print sources.

@Zawed: Hi, you'll probably be shocked to learn I didn't actually forget about this! Comments above. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 19:24, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Zawed: Just checking if you're still working on this? Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 19:57, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pickersgill-Cunliffe: yes, have about wrapped it up now so is ready for you to look at again. Unfortunately I can't find a decent source covering his career after the Suez Crisis and prior to Cyprus. Cheers, Zawed (talk) 10:10, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
