More sources

[edit]

In the interest of providing a somewhat balanced biography of Bill Brady, I would encourage users to find sources from places other than his own campaign website. Right now, with virtually all of his positions lifted from his own site, it looks like this page is being carefully monitored and maintained by Bill Brady's own campaign staff. I am fairly certain this violates Wikipedia's standards. Also, I'm alarmed that someone keeps changing the wording on his abortion position to carefully reflect a more "centrist" view. It IS relevant that he supports abortion in cases of rape and incest, as this more clearly reflects his position, and the article cited provides no information about his positions on FEDERAL funding. It is fine if you agree with him, but we are trying to provide as much information as possible and avoid leaving out important details like that.

improvement needed

[edit]

The biographical part of the article is very short. The political positions sections, which can work as an advertisement or criticism of the man, is much longer. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 21:25, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

misrepresentation

[edit]

This page did not give a proper representation of Bill Brady's beliefs and values and it was changed to be better aligned to the man and politician he is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.227.123.129 (talk) 15:35, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was "edited" into campaign propaganda for Brady. WP isn't supposed to be advertising, nor are you entitled to simply eliminate accurate information that you don't want shown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.217.235.131 (talk) 19:36, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mr. or Ms. Brady Campaign Staffer who has made all those changes: Do you REALLY think you're doing yourselves a favor by trying to turn Brady's WP entry into an extension of your campaign website? Do you REALLY think the voters of Illinois are so stupid as to fall for your propaganda? Guess you probably do think that. Thanks for letting us all know how little esteem you have for the voters Mr. Brady hopes to serve. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.225.64.82 (talk) 20:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

misrepresentation

[edit]

The story about the "mysterious" removal of Brady's name from a constitutional amendment has been debunked here: http://thecapitolfaxblog.com/2010/07/30/nothing-to-see-here-move-along/ The section should be taken down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Capitolfax (talkcontribs) 18:39, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

This article keeps on getting information from the Campaign website and is changing it to it. Stop it Now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gamepolice (talkcontribs) 19:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While we're on the topic

[edit]

is there any protocol that I don't know about which puts the "About Bill Brady" section after the long political positions section? --RobbieFal (talk) 08:27, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's something that I wondered about, too. Biographies are generally chronological in nature. This seems to be a poor initial choice of how to divide up the article that has been perpetuated through simple inertia. Uncle G (talk) 11:31, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Political posits section

[edit]

Can the LGBT be rewritten to show his "position" rather than the current cloak and dagger story? thanks, --Tom (talk) 20:50, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Uncle G. it looks like a lot of the political positions are based on his votes on certain bills? Do we have his voting record and is this SOP for politicians? --Tom (talk) 01:39, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the material about his 2005 vote since that was not in the citations provided. --Tom (talk) 01:46, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like votesmart.org has some of his past votes. Anyways, --Tom (talk) 01:57, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Endorsements

[edit]

I think we should add a section detailing the endorsements he has acquired from organizations. 76.29.110.161 (talk) 21:11, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

undue weight problem

[edit]

Illinois has a massive fiscal problem and this Wikipedia article has two lines on Brady's position on the budget and reams of material on matters that are side-shows compared to this budget problem like "LGBT issues." This is a serious imbalance in terms of what the people of Illinois and most readers of the page are interested in. If the article subject himself was running ads talking up his views on these matters then fine, that's what his campaign in centered on, but if it is the opposition that is calling attention to his stances here there is a POV issue.--Brian Dell (talk) 06:18, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
