Renaming the title character

[edit]

I think the article should contain information about why the title character, Kalle Blomkvist, was renamed in the English edistion. I see no actual reason for doing so except that the pronounciation of the original name might be slightly difficult for American tongues. --Maxl (talk) 15:53, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree totally. Just wrote the same on article about the first novel. BirgittaMTh (talk) 19:46, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
here's a hint: Kall/e - think cull/e(short) Blom/qvist - think blum(short u)/kvist kvist is fairly straightforward 70.31.164.76 (talk) 17:26, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, it isn't. Str1977 (talk) 10:52, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Bill Bergson is too soft and wimpy a name, but Kalle Blomqvist, even if you can't pronounce it right, has more punch and suggests a little spitfire of a boy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.49.17.243 (talk) 21:57, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds like a Swedish assumption. There's nothing inherently "spitfire" about that name to an English speaker. Alexandermoir (talk) 13:13, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
