article on Hussein's detention
[edit]Good article on Hussein's detention that I thought someone might want to add to this article [1]. Remember 14:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
AP should not be considered a reliable source for this article
[edit]In the context of this one article, I would suggest that the Associated Press should not automatically be considered a reliable source, and we should make an effort to find sourcing from other places when available. The AP is vigorously defending their photographer, including omitting details about the circumstances of his arrest from their articles. Kevinp2 (talk) 22:05, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's a valid point, but I'll add that AP news could be a reference provided that the article says something like "according to the Associated Press" or "AP responds that" so the reader knows that the source is also an advocate.

- Agreed, that is reasonable Kevinp2 (talk) 01:03, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
An Update on the Trial of Bilal Hussein
[edit]Possibly another useful source for this article? http://www.harpers.org/archive/2007/12/hbc-90001977 —Preceding unsigned comment added by New (talk • contribs) 10:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Contradictory / meaningless first paragraph
[edit]As it now stands:
Bilal Hussein is an Associated Press photojournalist based in Fallujah, Iraq who had been detained by U.S. forces, suspected of aiding insurgents in Iraq. He faced charges in the Iraqi Central Court based on scrutiny over the circumstances of his photos and evidence supplied by the U.S. military, which were directed by be ceased.
The rest of the article does not give any factual support to the claim 'He faced charges in the Iraqi Central Court'. No charges seem to have been brought. The sentence also implies the existence of 'evidence supplied by the U.S. military', however no such evidence has ever been shown.
I propose changing to:
Bilal Hussein is an Associated Press photojournalist based in Fallujah, Iraq who was detained by U.S. forces between April 2006 and April 2008, accused of aiding insurgents in Iraq.
