Photo
[edit]I added a photo I took of Betty the night she won Miss America. It's not the best quality so if anyone has a better photo of her I would hope mine would be replaced. Farragutful (talk) 22:28, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Farragutful: It may be unfocused, but it really captures the moment and the subject's spirit. Even if a better image is forthcoming, this will be useful for the article as a souvenir of her crowning moment. Thanks! Vesuvius Dogg (talk) 22:42, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
Greek Name
[edit]I made a spelling change to the way her name is written in English based on how most Greek-Americans like myself would spell it. In Greek it is written "Βασιλική" and the best transliteration would be "Vasiliki". I also changed the translation, from "royalty" to "royal". Etymologically speaking the name comes from the adjective βασιλικ-ός (male), βασιλικ-ή (female) (=royal), meaning he or she who is of royal descent or quality. - Well we can't just change the spelling of their name over what is linguistically correct. If her name is spelt "Baciliky" than that's her name and we can't just change it. Like if someone's name is "Lindsee" we can't just change it to "Lindsay" because that's what is normally correct. { [ ( jjj 1238 ) ] } 00:03, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
