First of all, this page needs some sources. Printed sources would be greatly appreciated, even if only from a newspaper or magazine. Second, shouldn't this creature go by its domestic name, besta fera, rather than the translated name? Finally, I think a better translation is "feral beast" or "savage beast", rather than "bestial beast". "Bestial beast" is redundant.67.167.26.239 06:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC) Chris G.[reply]

I actually doubt this entry should exist at all. I am a Brazilian history teacher, interested on Brazilian folk culture and owner of some books on the topic and have never ever found any evidence that the besta fera is an individual type of being. Most of the time I encounter the words, it is either a veiled mention of the werewolf (which some Brazilian peasants are afraid of and would not even mention) or a mere hyperbolic description of a very cruel person. To say someone has become a besta fera does not amount to a physical metamorphosis: it means that one has been subdued by violent, primitive impulses. The greatest Brazilian folklorist of all time, Luís da Câmara Cascudo, writing in 1954, does not even mention it. I propose this article for deletion. jggouvea 00:41, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
