[edit]I worked with Mr. Ogilvy and his wife, Raye in Yokohama, Japan with YWAM for a year in the early eighties. I was a missionary with Youth With A Mission, and Mr. Ogilvy was part of the leadership.
It was a cult, plain and simple. Mr. Ogilvy claimed supernatural ability to hear the voice of God, and ultimately "excommunicated" my wife and I (in a foreign country, with no ability yet to communicate effectively, and very limited financial resources) based solely on an "impresssion" that he had from "the spirit of God". He forbade any of our friends to even speak to us, yet he offered no specific "sin" of which we needed to repent. We lived an utter nightmare. He, with the other leaders under his hypnotic control, utterly destroyed our family and lives. Were it not for the grace of God, we would have drowned in the hideousness that engulfed us, lost as we were in a foreign country, with no way to leave, and no understanding of the language. Nevertheless, we survived. (As I write those words I truly wonder if he rejoices or curses. He was THAT evil in his quest for power!)
He was an evil, evil man then, and I wonder if he has changed. For me, my life has come full circle to strength and solid faith. I wonder what the years do to a man so possessed by the love of power.
I will tell more to anyone who is interested. I have nothing to hide — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markpaul (talk • contribs) 28 April 2006 (UTC)
