On the hoax tag...
[edit]Google searches on "Bernard "Rockit" Harvey" and "Bernard Rockit Harvey" only show this Wikipedia article. Only provided references are to a site that allows you to add your own name to any album, and is therefore completely unreliable. Unless reliable sources can be found, this one screams hoax to me. Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedy deleted as pure vandalism or a blatant hoax, because... if this is a hoax, it is not obvious and is very elaborate. Much of the info is sourced at the 'official website', in the infobox. Whether notability guidelines are met is another matter. --RashersTierney (talk) 23:48, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedy deleted as pure vandalism or a blatant hoax, because if you Google "Bernard Harvey Justin Bieber" you will see tons of references related to his work as a bassist and music producer. On Bieber's "Under the Mistletoe" Wikipedia page it also lists Bernard Harvey as producer and bassist on several singles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.252.164.99 (talk) 00:57, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- So can you point us to some reliable sources? This is lookng increasingly suspicious. RashersTierney (talk) 01:17, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- How is having lots of google hits as possible sourcing suspicious of a hoax. Dlohcierekim 01:41, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- In itself it isn't. It's the lack of print sources for one. A lot of the hits are copies, a number relate to a Bob Marley contemporary. It shouldn't be so difficult to trace reliable sources for a notable musician. RashersTierney (talk) 02:16, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Still. This isn't a blatant hoax. The article about the Oregon Tree Octopus is my personal favorite. Then there are the articles with references only the ref's have nothing to do with the subject. This one is complex enough that it might need an WP:afd to sort out the sourcing. Dlohcierekim 02:44, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Agree, which is why I contested the speedy. I've ping-ponged a bit as to whether it is a hoax, but it seems from filtering the google hits to be bone fide. Notability, however, may be the issue for AfD. RashersTierney (talk) 02:53, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
