0302 burned up?
[edit]I was hearing rumors about this, but if 0302 had to be retired because it "burned up", it would probably be in the news. 0304 had to be retired due to a fire, but I don't think the same is true with 0302. Maybe the motor burned, but if that's the case, they probably just need to put a new engine in that one. --174.60.62.57 (talk) 02:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Paratransit
[edit]Does this section really belong in the article? It seems to be lacking sources. Originally, this article only listed the regular buses, not the paratransit vans. I think we need to cite the vehicles in BARTA's paratransit fleet. --Amp Electric Vehicles (talk) 19:05, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- I fixed the numbering on the 2011 models the best I could while adding a {{Citation needed}} template. --Snirkel (talk) 19:28, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
I just removed the section on the paratransit vehicles. Please don't re-add it again, unless you find a source on the paratransit fleet. --Autumn the cat (talk) 21:31, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- BARTA was supposed to get two all-electric paratransit vehicles this year, but it's almost the New Year, and I have not seen them on the road. --Snirkel (talk) 19:18, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
The electric vehicles might not work in Reading because of the hills. Let's remove the part on the electric vehicles. --Autumn the cat (talk) 19:21, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- The CPTDBWiki has the paratransit vehicles listed. The paratransit roster on this page was updated correctly while the one on CPTDBWiki has some errors in it. For instance, it says 1401-1403 are 2014 Ford E-450 hybrids with Champion bodies while 1404-1409 and 1410-1416 are missing from that roster. 1401-1409 were purchased for Easton Coach, and 1401-1403 are raised-roof paratransit vans. 1517-1519 were also purchased for Easton Coach, but CPTDBWiki Roster states they were the first hybrids purchased by BARTA equipped with HybriDrive Series-E. I believe the 2015 Gillig BRT hybrids (1542-1544) are equipped with HybriDrive Series-E from BAE Systems. --Snuffleupagus (talk) 21:19, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

2016 bus purchase
[edit]In 2015, BARTA received 3 40 ft. Gillig BRT hybrids with the BAE Hybrid System (1542-1544). They got more of them this year, and I spotted 4 of them (1602, 1605, 1607 and 1608). If anyone has the info on these buses, I'd love to see it updated on the article page. I removed the 2003 Optima Opus buses from the roster because apparently, they are retired. --174.60.36.232 (talk) 22:11, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
I just updated the article page. There are 4 new buses that BARTA got for 2016 that I've been able to confirm. They did have a small fleet of Optima Opus buses from 2004, but they're basically retired now. --174.60.36.232 (talk) 20:42, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Are four of the Opus buses up in Scranton with COLTS? I heard that they procured four buses from either the Red Rose or BARTA, to fill a gap with the lack of buses in their fleet?
--Allamericanbear (talk) 15:25, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
The Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority article on CPTDBWiki says that 4 of them may be diverted to County of Lackawanna Transit System. The source says that 3 of them were leased by COLTS. 2 of the Opus buses were donated to the Berks Career & Technology Center and Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center for training. --Steven Spafford (talk) 02:27, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- The numbers on the 2016 Gillig BRT hybrids are 1605-1608. BARTA was going to start getting 35 ft. hybrids starting this year. --Steven Spafford (talk) 01:34, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
2018 bus purchase
[edit]BARTA got 10 new hybrids this year (1801-1810). The CPTDBWiki says they're all 40 ft. hybrids, but I know some of them are 35 ft. hybrids. I saw 1801 and 1805 in service today, and I rode in 1805. I know the first five (1801-1805) are 35 ft. hybrids. I wonder if the other five (1806-1810) are 40 ft. hybrids or if they're all 35 ft. hybrids. These are replacements for the 2005 Gillig BRT 35' buses. --Steven Spafford (talk) 20:48, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
- Five of the new hybrids (1801-1805) are 35 ft. hybrids, and the other five (1806-1810) are 40 ft. hybrids. As for the 2004 Opus buses, 0406, 0408 and 0409 went to COLTS. 0410 was donated to Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center. 0407 was listed for auction on Public Surplus website. I think that one was supposed to go to the Berks Career & Technology Center (BCTC), but it was in poor condition, and the transmission broke. --Ben9201996 (talk) 02:28, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, BARTA received seven new hybrids for 2018. Two of them (1806-1807) are 40 ft. hybrids. --Ben9201996 (talk) 22:45, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
0406, 0408 and 0409 went to COLTS. However, COLTS needed a fourth bus, so then 0410 went to COLTS as well. It did go to the Reading Muhlenberg Vo-tech in December 2016, and 0407 was listed for auction on February 2, 2017. 0410 was still driveable, and 0407 was not driveable. So, 0410 was driven to Scranton, so COLTS would receive the fourth bus from BARTA. Then, 0407 ended up at the Reading Muhlenberg Vo-tech, instead of going to the junkyard. The Vo-tech students also gave it a new look. It used to be red, yellow and white, and the part that used to be red was painted black. --Steven Spafford (talk) 21:16, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
0407 was towed from the property by whoever had the most bids. 0410 was donated to the Vo-tech school after it retired, but I don't know if it remained there permanently or just for the semester. Maybe it did end up at COLTS afterwards. Ben9201996 (talk) 21:41, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
