location
[edit]The box says that the closest city is Pueblo, CO. But that is very wrong. The closest city is La Junta, CO. I would know... I work at Bent's Old Fort. The mailing address for the fort is La Junta. Pueblo is more then an hour away from the fort. I think it should be changed.
- That's fine, you're welcome to change it. Some editors prefer to put the closest major city to the site and some prefer to put the closest city or town however small it might be. I usually put the closest city even if it is somewhat small. I think that this page was one of my earlier edits and at that point I was putting the nearest large city in the infobox. --Nebular110 04:46, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Nearest city has been changed to La Junta, Colorado --Nebular110 01:28, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
tell me what river is closest to it though!!! please????
- * That would be the Arkansas River which runs about 200 yards from the fort
Unwieldy title; recommend new one
[edit]This is a particularly unwieldy title; I recommend the page be moved to "Bent's Fort", by which it seems to be more commonly referred, and the full official title can be included in the first line of the lead.Parkwells (talk) 19:06, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Comment: The problem with "Bent's Fort" is that there is/was a "Bent's Fort" (a.k.a.: Bent's New Fort) which differs from "Bent's Old Fort"; however, dropping "National Historic Site" would be okay. ~:71.20.250.51 (talk) 03:30, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Restaurant
[edit]I don't believe the section on the restaurant belongs in this article at all, it's pure promotion. Perhaps a line in the Popular culture section (with a third-party ref, please). Yworo (talk) 19:44, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
I have no connection whatsoever with the restaurant; I ate there once and happened to enjoy it. If you're able to reword the description to make it less gushing, feel free. I don't have a third-party ref because I only know about it from personally visiting; I didn't read anything about the restaurant except the letters they had posted on their walls. The place is practically a museum dedicated to the fort -- be a bit weird not to cover it. I have no problem with moving it to the pop culture section; I almost did that myself anyway. - Done Converted to generic description on list (no 3rd party source, just un-spammmed info). ~E:71.20.250.51 (talk) 04:22, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Destruction
[edit]The "destruction" section mentions the fort's abandonment but says nothing about its destruction.Bill (talk) 23:03, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Nice catch! Per WikiBlame, the section originally talked about the fort's destruction until being reworked. I've changed the heading title to "Abandonment" for clarification. I hope that's OK; I don't know anything about this subject and only have this page on my watchlist due to vandalism. Graham87 (talk) 03:16, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
