According to my sources (Haskell & Penny, Taste and the Antique; Muller-Dufeu, La Sculpture grecque. Sources littéraires et épigraphiques), the inscription runs "Apollōnios Athenaios epoiei", without any mention of Nestor. However I remember having already seen the "son of Nestor" part. Is there any ref for that art? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 19:47, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Stewart, Greek Sculpture, p.348, refers to Rhys Carpenter's discovery of a signature as a "delusion", citing Guarducci, Epigrafia Greca, I:503-5, III:412-4 as rebuttal. Hope that helps. BTW could you take a look at Severe style, I fear its rather waffley and poorly referenced, anything you can add would be appreciated. Twospoonfuls (talk) 13:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. I confused two inscriptions: the "Apollōnios Athenaios epoiei" refers to another Apollonios of Athens. My mistake. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 11:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
