Historical vs current library building?

[edit]

I grew up in Belmont a few blocks East on Channing since 1952, but I've been out on the left coast for a quarter century. Details of this page differ from my memory.

The several historical photos of the library _building_ are interesting and conform with my memory, but some time in the mid 1960's the new library was built on Concord Ave just west of the swimming pool, and so far as I can remember, the original library building in Belmont Center was repurposed. If this is true, the subsequent pictures of the building should be retitled something like "original Belmont library building" and ideally a photo of the current library should be added.

(I looked at this page trying to find information about the wonderful children's library head who, in the mid 1950's, introduced me to some wonderful books. Her name was, if I remember correctly, was "Mrs. Nason", which last name was common and prominent in New Hampshire and perhaps elsewhere in northern New England. If anyone has more information about her, I'd appreciate hearing at shaflich at gmail. I owe her memory a lot.)
