Cleanup tag
[edit]Formatting is pretty much a mess, i.e. song titles in quotes, albums italicized, etc. Track list section is screwy and infobox should be added as well. Charts section needs to be put into a proper table too. -- eo 02:06, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Almost forgot, the article should probably be moved to "Believe (Cher song)". -- eo 02:07, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
DMC remix video
[edit]Is it fan-made or not? I found several versions of it on YouTube in June, but the authenticity is very shady... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.140.235.107 (talk) 01:25, 25 January 2007 (UTC).
Total Sales
[edit]This is currently listed under 'certifications', which it is not, so have moved. Also the figure requires validation. Exclusing Japan, the main markets and credidations have been listed, so hard to see the remaining 10% of the record buying world accounting for the missing 60% of sales. 60.234.242.196 03:19, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
UK chart summit duration
[edit]I have just corrected this as Believe spent 8 consecutive weeks at the pole position in the UK charts - previously, it has been stated as 7. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.132.40.176 (talk) 15:09, 16 March 2007 (UTC).
Believe had done the rounds?
[edit]It is widely rumoured the song had in fact been offered to singer Dannii Minogue before Cher. This was around the time of 1997. I do know there is a quote from Brian Higgins who had basically left the project by the time it reached Cher, saying something along the lines of "I wouldn't have thought to have done that" regarding the vocoder effect. This would makes sense, as Higgins and Taylor supposedly wrote a number of tracks together before professionally parting ways. Unless someone can verify, I would like to research this more fully before stating it on the main board. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.132.40.176 (talk) 15:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC).
- Yes and no. Brian Higgins basically played the "Believe" demo for every artist he worked with in the mid 1990s, including Minogue. But the song was in a very different state to what you and I now know as Cher's "Believe", hence the number of co-writers who got involved later on. This article has some more information about how the song came to be: http://www.nytimes.com/1999/03/11/arts/cher-resurrected-again-by-a-hit-the-long-hard-but-serendipitous-road-to-believe.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm 31.185.226.211 (talk) 15:38, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Notable cover versions?
[edit]I heard an amazing cover from UK X Factor 2012 by Ella Henderson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTbcO9qaE5g. Are there other notable cover versions as to warrant a section?
Cher as songwriter?
[edit]Please add reliable sources for Cher has writing input on the song. Thank you. 115.164.181.136 (talk) 07:33, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- The Cher World source is a transcript from a BBC interview. Is that transcript available from the BBC?--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 16:46, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- I found another two rather than interview transcript:
- Cher: If You Believe, it says "There were already six writers credited with having written the song "Believe," so why not add her own pen to the task? Explained Cher, "I was singing in the bathtub, and it seemed to me the second verse was too whiny. It kind of pissed me off, so I changed it. I toughened it up a bit. I wrote the lyrics..." "
- New York Times article: "So where does a hit like Believe come from? There are six songwriters credited with writing the single. Of those, Cher knows only one. Digging deeper, at least four others, including Cher, contributed to the music and lyrics of Believe but are not credited on the record because there were already too many people listed." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.136.112.198 (talk) 03:24, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
- Those look great.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 06:49, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- So why shouldn't she be included? I can think of some Kanye West songs that have 10 or 12 writers. Just because she isn't credited doesn't mean she didn't help write the song. CB19 (talk) 17:37, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Adam Lambert versions
[edit]Template:OR? added, as "undoubtedly" seems to suggest an editor's own view.
In 2009 on season 8 of American Idol Adam Lambert arranged and sang a slow ballad version of this in Hollywood week. This was undoubtedly why he was requested to sing this at the 2018 Kennedy Centre Honors.
