Blitz change on iOS
[edit]Bejeweled 2 on iOS has now been discontinued and is no longer available; the blitz mode has been removed from bejeweled 2 for those who already own it. A standalone (different) implementation of blitz mode is available for no charge on the app store. 90.211.114.238 (talk) 15:27, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm confused.
[edit]I remember reading somewhere that Bejeweled 2 had a planned GBA/DS release. Was this true? 98.100.60.170 (talk) 22:26, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
Regarding the release date
[edit]The release date given in the readme and used in this article appears to be wrong. It says that Bejeweled 2 was released in November 5, 2004, but while working on the List of PopCap Games games in my userspace, I found evidence that the actual release date is November 16, 2004.
For context of my evidence, throughout PopCap's existence since 2000, its webpages have been archived in the Wayback Machine, and since April 2001, PopCap has dedicated a portion of its website to announcements, usually to announce new releases, giving us a useful tool for cataloging games by PopCap. Usually, the readmes line up with the site's updates and announcements, but not for Bejeweled 2. In fact, the announcement section in the leadup to and after Bejeweled 2's strikes me as really bizzare.
On October 18, 2004, PopCap announced a survey for its visitors to take to participate in the upcoming PopCap Tournament, and for whatever reason, the announcement's dated December 3, 2004. This announcement would stay posted until January 7, 2004 when it was replaced with an announcement of the release of PDA ports of Bejeweled 2 and Zuma, which, again, is for some reason dated January 21, 2005. PopCap didn't even announce the release of Bejeweled 2 on PC and their website. And for the record, Astraware ported Bejeweled to Palm OS and Pocket PC on December 6, 2004, not January 2005.
But despite its irregularity and the fact it skips over Bejeweled 2's release, this by itself doesn't disprove its release date. What does is the updates to the site itself. By this point, PopCap's website was being archived almost every day, making it possible to pinpoint the exact date Bejeweled 2 was released. To demonstrate, this is the list of PopCap games on November 15, 2004. Even though it's after Bejeweled 2's supposed release date according to the readme, it is not listed. And this is the list of PopCap games on November 16, 2004. Bejeweled 2, both its online and retail version, is now listed, establishing November 16 as Bejeweled 2's true release date.
To corroborate this claim, I searched for contemporaneous external sources. On November 15, PopCap put out a syndicated press release through Business Wire promoting the release of Bejeweled 2. A day later, Engadget posted an article saying that PopCap "just released" Bejeweled 2. Both of these sources disprove the November 5 release date and point toward November 16 being the true release date. Lazman321 (talk) 05:21, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, you know what. Having worked on the list a little more since this discovery, I've realized that, based on the press release, November 15 is more likely. The press release is announcing a game's release on that specific date and the updated webpage probably wasn't archived until the next day. With no other source with a specific, likely date, I'm changing the release date once more. It also makes the date on the readme more than likely a typo, explaining the discrepency Lazman321 (talk) 22:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
