Studio vs. Production Compnay/Agency in the Infobox

[edit]

Continuing the discussion at Template:Did you know nominations/Bears and Man. The entity "Wilderness Cinegraphic" was removed from the infobox "studio" field, on the grounds that it is not an established studio. While I agree with this, and can't offer any illumination as to the exact nature of W.C., I believe it should be included in the infobox as a "statement of responsibility" (see Cataloging), i.e. a potential search term for someone searching the topic. The NFB have given credit to this entity, so I think we should as well. From my experience in the film world, it's likely this is a personal company for Schmalz, and may not have even had an office. However, we do list these "personal" production companies as "studios" in practice, for instance "A Band Apart" is Quentin Tarantino's personal outfit, but gets billing alongside Miramax in the studio field in his articles (see Inglourious Basterds). So, we can simply include it here, talk to WikiProject Film about getting the "studio" parameter either expanded to include production companies, or strictly limited to proper "studios" (that might be difficult as I don't know of a proper definition), or exclude it. I put it back, then. Like I'd said, I'd have no objection to you simply reverting. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 14:55, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
