Bayport is not Fictional
[edit]The setting for the Hardy Boys books is not fictional. The creater of the series Edward Stratemeyer chose Bayport, NY to be the setting.
Barmet Bay is from old Dutch
[edit]Barmetje Baai is what the early Dutch settlers called the Great South Bay. It means "Little Severe Bay" which is from "Barmetje Baai." Barme is "severe" in Dutch.
