I don't understand this introductory phrase to the text under the heading Background. Someone who knows what it intends, please edit for clarity:

@5, Per WP:PAYWALL sources don't have to be available to the general public free of charge - if you want to verify it get a free trial or a subscription to the Economist.

What is vague about calling it a "prison"?
