hoax? Or at least not what one would call a battle?

The best lies have an element of truth, and it does check out that Danes, Brits, and Lithuanians worked in the general area at the time this is alleged to have taken place. The article on Dancon/Irak mentions the same guy, Ole Gretlund, saving some Lithuanians pinned down by insurgents, but that content is also unsourced.
