Ongoing

[edit]

Seems like a Russian Victory, given that Russian forces have bypassed Ivankiv, taken the Antonov Airport in Hostomel, and are now massing to attack Kiev itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.84.20.67 (talk) 18:21, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The battle is still ongoing, per some sources circulating. Curbon7 (talk) 22:56, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Page needs to be updated

[edit]

At teh very least, Ivankiv is contested right now, but many sources are suggesting the Russians may have left. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolf359Locutus (talkcontribs) 20:39, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources must be provided to state this. Curbon7 (talk) 22:04, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It should be seen as inconclusive, because although the Russians were able to capture it, in the end they had to withdraw from Kyiv entirely, making their victory here moot 72.229.242.36 (talk) 20:01, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Either inconclusive or Ukrainian victory. The Ukrainians control all the areas around Kyiv now. Ref: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-troops-have-retaken-full-control-kyiv-region-says-deputy-defence-2022-04-02/ 182.239.87.226 (talk) 20:41, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There was no fighting following the Russian takeover at the end of February. And also there was no confirmed fighting during the recent Russian withdrawal. The subject of this article is about the battle that took place at the end of February. EkoGraf (talk) 17:20, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Territorial Changes??

[edit]

From what I understand, this is used to describe a change is territory under the jurisdiction of a state, not something captured in the course of a military campaign and lost quite soon after. I'm removing the section.Wolf359Locutus (talk) 17:38, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, that was a strange addition. Curbon7 (talk) 20:40, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalisation of "battle" in "battle of Ivankiv"

[edit]

The initial letter of the title is only capitalised in running text if it would normally be capitalised. Per MOS:CAPS: Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization. In English, capitalization is primarily needed for proper names, acronyms, and for the first letter of a sentence. Wikipedia relies on sources to determine what is conventionally capitalized; only words and phrases that are consistently capitalized in a substantial majority of independent, reliable sources are capitalized in Wikipedia. Per MOS:CAPS, the burden is to show that capitalisation is necessary in accordance with the criteria of MOS:CAPS. Looking at news sources here, it is not even a name used in sources, let alone used as a proper name at all. Cinderella157 (talk) 10:39, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change title

[edit]

I think that "Battles of Ivankiv and Dymer" would fit more, as the clashes occurred not only in Ivankiv, but also in neighbouring Dymer. SnoopyBird (talk) 23:55, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I propose a merger of Battle of Ivankiv to Northern Ukraine campaign. Sources do not indicate a notable battle took place here. A search for "Battle of Ivankiv" returns little in the way of significant coverage. Notable events mentioned here will be better understood in the context of the Russian troop movements in northern Kyiv Oblast.

No opposition from me, as page creator. Curbon7 (talk) 02:05, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Not independently notable. Cinderella157 (talk) 04:17, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
