I'll grab this one.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Images appropriately licensed
  • Any pictures of the battlefield available?
    • Not really. The site where Siber's men first encountered Loring is the back of a Walmart. There are some drawings (in a recent book) that I have not been able to find elsewhere. There was a Fort Scammon in Fayetteville, which is not Wikipedia's Fort Scammon in Charleston. I put the Narrows and Gauley Bridge images in to give the reader somewhat of an idea of the appearance of the countryside. TwoScars (talk) 16:38, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • In the Aftermath section, it already says "Today, the battlefield at Fayetteville is now covered by a modern town.[92] Fayetteville has historical markers commemorating the 1862 battle and a second battle that occurred in 1863." I'm going to drop the "now", since the sentence begins with "Today". TwoScars (talk) 20:53, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ranks are only used on first appearance for each individual
  • Once an individual's allegiance is established, there's no need to repeat it
  • to form a junction with awkward, rephrase
  • Changed to "...and then move northeast to join forces with more Confederate soldiers in the...."
  • Union Army should be capitalized as it's a proper name
  • on the pike use a synonym for variety's sake
