No Légionnaires!
[edit]" The BBC's Christian Fraser in Paris said they were legionnaires from the southern French town of Orange - a special forces unit expert in desert warfare." The journalist is a complete nuts! The sole Légionnaires who are present so far are from the 1st REC, a cavalry regiment. It is no "special forces", there are no special forces in the Legion by the way. It is always the complete stupidity from anglo-saxon guys to see Legion everywhere and to speak of special forces despite knowing nothing.
This source is unvalid.
So far, there are French special forces, Troupes de Marine, and paratroopers, and the 1st REC. Here is the list:
