The last paragraph of this article is slightly incorrect as The Godfather was made a year earlier. The film Pacino abandoned, and in which DeNiro was cast in his place was The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight.

so why is it called "bang the drum slowly", if it's named after the quote "BEAT the drum slowly"??

is this an example of the book's "ungrammar", or was this really a transitive verb back then?

in modern NYese, one needs to insert an "on": "i rag on...".
