Disucssion

[edit]

I have removed the {{Orphan}} & {{dated prod}} templates after expansion to establish notability and after adding links from related articles. Although the editor proposing this deletion has said that townlands "rarely, if ever, have a signpost indicating their presence", this one does - please see this photograph at geograph.org.uk: View south-east from Ballyhanedin. Wow! Very impressive improvement of this article, especially the references. It's always nice to be proved wrong about these types of things - it helps the learning process. Well done Xn4.

Oh, I've only just noticed that Ballyhanedin has been changed from being a townland of Banagher in Co. Offaly to being a townland of Banagher in County Derry. This probably explains the signposting as I don't think I've ever seen an official signpost (i.e. erected by Co. Council) for a townland in the Republic of Ireland. Near where I live in County Offaly, there is, however, a townland named Mt. Lucas that has a signpost, but I think it was erected by locals. There may also be the possibility that it will obtain village status. Ga2re2t (talk) 10:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed, the Offaly connection was clearly a mistake. I see there's a Banagher there, but that one evidently doesn't have a Ballyhanedin. Regards, Xn4 14:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
