Merge with: Bajiprabhu

[edit]

The other article Bajiprabhu has more details than this one. However, this one takes precedence since the name is correct. I suggest a merge. -- Mayuresh 16:03, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Descendant

[edit]

Why is a modern descendant of Baji Prabhu relevant to this article? There are probably hundreds if not thousands of his descendants currently living. That also holds true for other notables from that era.Are you suggesting that Wikipedia should devote space for descendants? You should be creating an article for Ramchandra Deshpande first if he is that notable.Thanks.Jonathansammy (talk) 15:49, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, not suggesting that at all. But please see the section of descendants for Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Only the important ones are mentioned as part of his legacy. Not all descendants but this one was a freedom fighter and hence part of Baji Prabhu's legacy. There are some other descendents of other notables from Maharashtra too too for example see https://www.indiatoday.in/magazine/heritage/story/20090914-the-forgotten-heroes-740682-2009-09-03 and http://www.worldhindunews.com/2015/08/11/46684/hjs-pays-tribute-to-great-warrior-naraveer-bajiprabhu-deshpande-on-martyr-day-at-pavan-khinda/ but they are nothing more than just names and we cannot add every descendent as you rightly say. He is a notable to some extent but not sure if he is notable enough for a separate wiki page(probably due to lack of english sources). It is ironic that Shiv Sena has taken his land(see the youtube news) - that was the most interesting part. It is just a two line mention. He is part of Baji Prabhu's legacy similar to Tilak's decendents. Acharya63 (talk) 16:12, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As an example, one of the sources above mentions these names Nilesh Deshpande, the 11th descendent of Bajiprabhu Deshpande , Vaidyanath Deshpande, Sandesh Deshpande - but there is no point adding them as there will be so many like them - their cousins etc. But they are not known for anything other than being Baji Prabhu's decendents. Ramchandra Deshpande, Mukta Tilak, Rohit Tilak, Shridhar Tilak had some notability but not notable enough to have their own webpage(maybe the last two do) on wiki.
