Full T20I?

[edit]

@Lugnuts: Thanks for adding the extra ref - I was just about to do the same thing. I noticed that this one says a Bermuda XI, which makes me wonder if they will be T20I matches. This would be annoying seeing as I have researched an created the List of Bahamas Twenty20 International cricketers article! I was told via Facebook that they would be T20I matches, while Twitter states that the matches are against the Bermuda national team, and had no reason to think that they would not be, but now I am not so certain. @Bs1jac: This is similar to the Estonia one. Let's see what happens tomorrow. CI still didn't create the scorecards. Human (talk) 16:38, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It might be but it depends how the ICC are treating them. A shame if so. PS: wouldnt be surpised if CI doesn't add cards tomorrow even if they are T20Is! Bs1jac (talk) 16:44, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fingers crossed it's a full T20I series. Unless there's an issue with player eligibilty, then I don't see why it wouldn't (famous last words)! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:01, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have received some communication from someone at the Bahamas Cricket Association... I don't think they are sure either! They were told it was the full Bermuda national side and T20I, but they will find out tomorrow. Bs1jac (talk) 17:54, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Crichq says they are T20Is. CI yet to make the scorecards. Forget about ICC. Human (talk) 04:11, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac and Lugnuts: The link here says there will be two different T20 series, one being T20I and another being a friendly T20. But the confusing thing is that they in the same ground at the same time. But the umpires appointed are different. Human (talk) 04:17, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Truely bizarre and confusing. Maybe the start time is for the day's play and one match per day will be t20i and one not? We might never know until CI eventually adds details (possibly not for days... or not at all if not t20i) Bs1jac (talk) 07:28, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac and Lugnuts: Alright I have asked Bermuda cricket on fb and they said the matches don't have T20I status unfortunately. The existence of this page is now in question. Human (talk) 15:19, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A shame if true, and I wonder why? Bermuda said it was a chance for their players to earn a place in the qualifier (so they can't be ineligible like Estonia XI). Probably not being played under standard rules. Page will need deleting if/when we are sure. Bs1jac (talk) 15:33, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know the reason. The page said all the matches are 'friendlies' and they don't have T20I status. Human (talk) 15:42, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for chasing and getting an answer. If more coverage of the tour can be found, regardless of the status of the fixtures, then it should meet WP:GNG and would not need deletion. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:15, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Lugnuts: What should be done then? Should we update the article or leave it as it is. I don't think CI will ever make an article on this tour. And keep a page where none of the matches are played as an official form of cricket. Human (talk) 16:45, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd leave it a few days and see what coverage comes from the press in Bermuda (if any) before making a call. As for the list of T20I players for the Bahamas, that can probably be redirected to the team's article. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:48, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Lugnuts - I will sort that regarding the player list. That's some research time wasted! Bs1jac (talk) 17:28, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The irony of this is that despite the matches not being T20Is, there's lots of coverage, including full scorecards! One, two. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:08, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Lugnuts: By seeing the results I'm actually glad those aren't T20Is. Bahamas would have faced humiliation like the Mali women's team. Human (talk) 05:51, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
CricHQ (which is often not free of errors) still says that the 2 matches played on 26th (one of which is erroneously labelled as 28th and at the wrong venue) were T20I friendlies, and the remaining two for the 28th are T20I. So it is still possible that these last two are. And they are at the national stadium unlike the first two. Very unclear. Still suggest adopting the wait and see approach! Bs1jac (talk) 17:42, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Gazette “I challenge them to step it up, it’s not losing but how you lose. These may be warm-up matches, but these are T20 internationals and go towards Bahamas and Bermuda’s ranking globally, so the matches are very, very important, especially for Bahamas who are at the bottom of the table.” This says T20I, and also that they count to rankings (which makes them at least official matches). So either they are, or really nobody seems to know! Bs1jac (talk) 22:14, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Still not very much reliable. Remember when the rankings with 80 teams were first released? Much of the teams didn't play T20I, although they are given points based on the unofficial matches. This one might be similar. Human (talk) 08:37, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Yes just saying it is still possible, not that I think they actually are. Bs1jac (talk) 08:39, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The most recent report in the Royal Gazette just says T20, so it does make it less likely that the matches carried full international status. Bs1jac (talk) 12:08, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmation of no T20I status here. Bs1jac (talk) 06:16, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Venues

[edit]

I suspect the venues shown in Criq Hq are wrong and the originals here are correct. The Twitter advert images all indicate that the first two matches were at White Hill Field and the other two are at the National Stadium. Would make little sense to have two matches on the same day at different venues. Especially given that Cric Hq says that match 2 was played on the 28th... which was 2 days in the future. I imagine they have put the scores for match 2 into a template intended for match 3. Suggest seeing what the news reports say later. Bs1jac (talk) 12:36, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
