Interesting. GNIS for Badwater (populated place) reports an elevation of -266 ft. U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System: GNIS for Badwater Basin reports -279. The Badwater Basin article states that the elevation is -282 and cites
"USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED) 1 meter Downloadable Data Collection from The National Map 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) - National Geospatial Data Asset (NGDA) National Elevation Data Set (NED)". United States Geological Survey. September 21, 2015. Retrieved September 22, 2015..
As the GNIS is not very reliable, I would trust the reference above over the GNIS.
This site describes the -282/-266 discrepancy, it might be good to update this article with this information?
However, Extreme_points_of_North_America#Lowest_points states that -279 is the lowest point and cites the same reference as Badwater Basin?

Either the Badwater Basin article or the Extreme_points_of_North_America#Lowest_points article needs to be updated. Cxbrx (talk) 05:12, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I updated Badwater Basin and Extreme_points_of_North_America#Lowest_points. See Talk:Badwater Basin. Cxbrx (talk) 04:59, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
