A number of reasons really. The first reason is that the number of articles that so-called awards has exploded in the last few years. It is phenomena explicitly related to the existence of Wikipedia and at the time, the hope that a company could get an article on here, originally anyway. Around 2010-2012 company's started adding awards to their paid articles, in the hope that would get them over the line, in terms of notability. I saw it London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, all these company sites all of a suddenly full of dodgy awards and in return given out by dodgy awardees and they started appearing on Wikipedia with these. It then leaked into other areas, like paid profiles for BLP articles and then appeared everywhere. Most of them are really junk. If they have a Wikipedia article already, then they are likely notable. That is current consensus. There is a lot of good awards and honours that are highly prestigious and are not on here unfortunately. Too many articles still to be done really, which is unfortunate. On top of that, only one of these awards for Bad Temper Joe has been won, the others are nominations. These awards don't have articles. On top of that, I think the artiste is only borderline notable. There is one track that made it, but the numbers are very low. Virtually nobody is listening to him, mainly due to nobody listening to Blues now. The western world has become too rich. So trying to WP:PUFF it up, with non-notable awards is not the best approach. scope_creepTalk10:27, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
