External links no longer work
[edit]I have done some simple editing - adding links, etc - but find that most of the external links no longer work, due to BSI changing its web site. I do not have time to chase this up - perhaps someone close to BSI could oblige. Patche99z 11:55, 28 September 2007 (UTC).
The References section provides a link to QSU Big Ten listing of registrars. QSU Publishing Company was sold to a private company Apogee Global Resources, Inc. (AGR) in Dec 2007. In May 2008, AGR launched a new company called the Global Quality Exchange (GQEX), which replaced the outdated ISO certification database maintained by QSU. The new GQEX database is directly updated by accredited certification bodies such as BSI, to ensure data accuracy. The "Big Ten" ranking of certification bodies is a trademark of AGR, and is now maintained online by GQEX at www.gqex.net. The link provided by this article should be replaced accordingly. Image copyright problem with Image:Kitemark.png
[edit]The image Image:Kitemark.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

BSI Logo needs changing on page because of new branding
[edit]As of July 1st, 2012, Bsi Logo is changing from the old blue with yellow banding lettering to a lowercase black bsi letters with red full stop, as part of bsi rebranding - Logo jpg needs changing to reflect this. - http://www.makingexcellenceahabit.com/en-gb Qzertyy (talk) 12:22, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Replacing BSIgroup as a Primary source
[edit]Although Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is also British, the article doesn't have a single reference to "BSI Group" or "British Standards." The wiki article for ICE says "an independent professional association for civil engineers ... Based in London, ... members, of whom three quarters are located in the UK, .. the rest .. 150 other countries."
For some information, it still makes sense to source from BSI, since it will facilitate obtaining updates on counts (some of which seem a bit on the WP:ADVERT side, and the article did carry such a tag for a while). Pi314m (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Disputing "never been called that" (Institute)
[edit]The NYTimes published in 2018 a sentence beginning
- "It would use the British Standards Institute (which is recognized in 120 countries) to administer and audit ..."
- A pair of letters published by the Times in 1990 also used Institute. I had cited one of them.
- A 24June2019 BSI Group revert summary saying "has never been called that" is the purpose of this Talk page note.
- An attempted forcing of America's friends across the pond to say "standardiZed" is why I reverted the edit. Pi314m (talk) 05:17, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Pretty thin article - more history
[edit]We need to add much more about how this in situation played a key role in modern standards processes. Jamesks (talk) 14:39, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
