Query about formatting

[edit]

Am I right in thinking that the external links should be in references, not giving direct links between the text and the BBC page? To my eye its starting to look rather spammy.... almost-instinct 18:05, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, per WP:EL they need to go as footnotes. This whole article is rather spammy, albeit on a notable subject. I've removed one alleged reference which did not support the claim "while a number of New Generation Artists have also featured on BBC Music Magazine cover CDs.". It was simply a direct link to a site selling subscriptions to BBC magazines, nothing else. I've also removed the link to the NGA Facebook page. It's already linked from the official website. That's more than enough. The referencing for this article is very poor. Surely, there is coverage and reviews in mainstream publications outside the BBC itself and sites like classicalsource.com and prestoclassical.co.uk both of which exist primarily to sell recordings. I've actually removed the latter as it does not support the statement "three of which (Belcea Quartet, Simon Trpceski and Jonathan Lemalu) have won Gramophone Awards for the best Debut CD of the year" at all. None of the names are listed there. Voceditenore (talk) 18:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Right, done the formatting. Have rewritten the introduction. The section "Young Musician of the Year Relationship" seems spurious as there isn't an official relationship. almost-instinct 10:06, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Admission to the scheme

[edit]

This article's usefulness might be improved if it were to set out the process (stages) of selection by which candidates are admitted to the NGA scheme. Ucypanp (talk) 20:14, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
