Gashimov was the champion in 1995?

[edit]

Is there a source for this victory? Gashimov would have been 8 or 9 years old at the time of his first triumph. Checking the FIDE ratings in July of 1995, Gashimov is not even listed there. He IS listed in the January 1996 list, but only as an untitled 2250-rated player, a level he would stay at for the next 2.5 years. While it's certainly possible that he was champion for those years, it's at least mildly suspicious without further confirmation. ChessPlayerLev (talk) 11:41, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I remember, I got the information from Azerbaijani or Russian version of Wikipedia that had source. It could've been typo. I'm not sure. If you think it's not right feel free to remove it.--NovaSkola (talk) 08:31, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Can you link me to the source, if you still remember it? I'm Russian and can understand the language. I would search for it myself, but unfortunately, I haven't yet installed Cyrillic font on my computer! ChessPlayerLev (talk) 11:15, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I couldn't find. And that page in wikipedia, looks like deleted. However, I think I've searched profiles of chess players itself like Teimour Radjabov, as in their stats it shows what they achieved. I've added information like that.--NovaSkola (talk) 10:38, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed that chessgames.com says that the 1995, 1996, and 1998 championships were likely to have been youth championships given Gashimov's age. If anyone has definitive information about the Azerbaijani championship it seems hard to find online in English, at least. Quale (talk) 04:14, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
