Avid Logo is not the most current

[edit]

The Avid logo on this page needs to be updated. I'm an Avid employee, however, I'm also ignorant in the ways of WIKIPEDIA. I attempted to update the graphic it did not take. Would love some help in getting it updated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeTaylor68 (talkcontribs) 22:18, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the Avid Technology logo shown on the page IS NOT the current/correct Avid Logo. I'm an Avid graphic designer and I have attempted to update the logo but have had difficulty in doing so. You know the logo is incorrect if it has a gradient in the purple. Also, the "d" should not extend above and below the "v". — Preceding unsigned comment added by MikeTaylor68 (talkcontribs)

You can upload a new logo and switch to that. Binksternet (talk) 23:19, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Avid Technology Wikipedia Page

[edit]

My name is Jessica and I’m from Avid’s PR agency. We realize we can’t update Avid’s page ourselves, so we thought we’d flag a couple of sections that are very out of date, in case someone else would like to update them:   Avid Technology Wikipedia URL: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Avid_(company)

Key products section Alienbrain is now owned by Autodesk DS was discontinued in 2013 Avid Studio was discontinued ICON was discontinued NewsCutter is an option for Media Composer (Media Composer | NewsCutter Option) M-Audio is now owned by inMusic Symphony is an option for Media Composer (Media Composer | Symphony Option) Unity ISIS was discontinued Unity MediaNetwork was discontinued   Discontinued products section The following discontinued products should be added: DS Avid Studio ICON Unity ISIS Unity MediaNetwork

Hi @JessicaM82:,

These changes seem reasonable, so I've made them with the exception of adding the 'NewsCutter' and 'Symphony' options. I suggest that you request these changes get made on the Media_Composer#Features page.

Hi there, this is Jessica again from Avid's PR agency. Since we cannot update the page ourselves, we wanted to flag Avid's 2017 fiscal data. If someone could update we'd greatly appreciate it.

For Avid’s Wiki page, fiscal 2017 data:

Revenue - $419.00 million

Operating Income - $5.25 million

Net loss - $13.56 million

Total assets - $234.68 million

Rather than total equity, IR states: “The line should read Total stockholders’ deficit. (It should have been that way for 2016 too.) The 2017 amount was $268.57 million.”

Employee count at year end 2017 - 1,591

Avid Technology and Avid Audio

[edit]

Apologies if I'm missing a previous discussion on this topic. This discussion is really about 2 articles - this article (Avid Audio) and the main Avid article (Avid Technology). Avid presents their brand as a unified brand, and it seems that at this point, Avid's pro audio offerings (Pro Tools, audio interfaces, studio control surfaces) should be represented as part of the Avid Technology article. That said, I would prefer not to lose the Digidesign historical aspect (and I am not a fan of the deletion of articles about companies or brands just because they were acquired). Suggestions on how best to make the Avid Technology article more accurate / comprehensive while not losing Digidesign history? synthfiend (talk) 16:25, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the problem in having two articles. If you want to tell the reader more about the acquisition of Digidesign in the Avid Technology article, I would support that. Binksternet (talk) 16:54, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
