Avantasia vs The Metal Opera

[edit]

I think all information about 'The Metal Opera' should be moved. Seeing how Avantasia is the band and "The Metal Opera" is the albums. Matt Pizzashack (talk) 19:43, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps. Or at the very least, resorted into its own section, now that there are new albums coming out. I would be a bit reluctant to remove it entirely, as the album's information makes up a large part of the page (It'd be a shame to wind up with a near-stub here while there's a nice start of an article on the albums themselves.), but I do agree it could use some cleanup. Feel free to take a stab at it yourself, since you're the one that pointed it out! -Bbik 15:03, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have gave it a shot, http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Avantasia_%28story%29 it is quite rough as I do not have much experience working with Wikipedia pages. Matt Pizzashack (talk) 01:32, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What Happened to this page?

[edit]

This page has been majorly cut down. Is there any reason why? I'm tempted to restore the old version if there is no reason given for turning this article into a stub... Sanctusorium

Alright, I didn't see a single reason as to why the whole article was chopped away and it was all done by one IP address. I am copy pasting the state of the article before that IP address had started to make changes. If anyone has issues with this, please talk about it. Sanctusorium

Rollback

[edit]

There were several revisions removing massive amounts of content without explanation, so I rolled these back.

deceased? when?

[edit]

Why does it say deceased under Tobias Sammet under the section Vocalists. As far as I know is still alive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.219.145.37 (talk) 21:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

Support splits - The Members and Discography sections are becoming long and should be split to new articles entitled List of Avantasia members and Avantasia discography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:42, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Discography should really be spilt out. I fully agree with that. I always had my doubts about the so-called 'members' section. A lot of these people appear to be collaborators or guest-musicians that either feature on tour on on recordings. Perhaps the members section can be integrated into the relevant album sections where a subsequent tour is added, if it took place? Karst (talk) 06:49, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Could create something like List of Iced Earth band members, seems like a very good idea. Refer to Iced Earth as well for how that was done. As for the discography, the main full-length releases should be listed in the simplest bullet-form with linkages on the main article, with singles, videos, and more detailed discography info in a separate article if the discography is big enough. Sort of like Kamelot discography and the simple list on Kamelot. [[ Vortiene (talk) 07:00, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with split. Discography can be simplified in the main article as Vortiene suggested above. Victão Lopes Fala! 15:28, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Name origin?

[edit]

I remember some time ago this page claimed that Avantasia is a portmanteau of "avant-garde" and "fantasia", but now it's changed to "Avalon" and "fantasia". There is no source backing it up and a brief search didn't turn up anything useful (just copies of that same paragraph). Can anyone with the booklet confirm or deny it? Also, I don't see a connection between Avalon (mythical island from the Death of King Arthur, if I remember correctly, excuse my translation, and the name of Timo Tolkki's "project") and Avantasia, whose story is set in a new dimension, and from the places on Earth only Germany has anything to do with it (Mainz), so it might be worth an explanation if there's any.
