Outdated/Obscured information
[edit]The vast majority of the info about Autonet in this article (and on their website) is way out of date and just basically wrong. I worked there for many years, and left in 2020. The company is no longer based in Santa Rosa, California, instead the few employees are based in Arizona. Virtually all of their products are discontinued - they no longer manufacture or sell in-car wifi hotspot devices, and they shut down all cell service for their remaining customer base. Their apps are no longer available on Android or iOS. Autonet is now merely a shell for other speculative ventures, which also appear largely defunct - attempting to visit destination sites linked to on their website go to sites that no longer exist. It's kind of pathetic. Unfortunately, because the company obscures pretty much all relevant info, everything I've written falls in the realm of speculation since it can't be verified. At this point, the company is largely irrelevant, and definitely not notable - the article could probably just be removed. Anastrophe (talk) 22:17, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- An update - the company is now defunct, although other than the lack of DNS delegation to their nameservers (which I built!), I've no way to prove a negative. That said, I retract my statement above that the article should just be removed. At the time that their devices came out, they were 'game changers' and a big deal. Mismanagement over the years (long after the founders left) doomed them however. But - aside from trimming down some of the no-longer relevant verbiage, the article discusses a once-notable company.
