Spelling

The article has recently been significantly expanded by Hoganpc using inconsistent spelling, including a move to autoimmune haemolytic anemia. I have standardized the spelling to American spelling that the stub existed in (albeit inconsistently) prior to this. However, if it had been their intention for the article to be written with non-US spelling—as might be suggested by the hemolytic → haemolytic move and the spelling used in the lead—because they are the first major contributor to this article, if Hoganpc indicates here that the intention was for the article to use this variety, I will move the article and change the spelling accordingly. Temperature range of cold AIHA?

It says that this occurs at 0-4 degrees celcius....so only when frostbite occurs? I don't have citations, but I'm sure that the temperature range is somewhat more moderate for triggering cold AIHA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.220.15.105 (talk) 17:25, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite right, in vivo these antibodies act at a higher temperature. However, they are at their highest activity in vitro at 0-4 degrees. For more on this, the paper by Gehrs and Friedberg in the American Journal of Hematology, 2002 (referenced in this article) is a good review and mentions this in the section titled 'Cold Agglutinin Syndrome', subsection 'Laboratory Evaluation'. I'm not an expert on the topic, but this is my understanding. I appreciate the confusion in this article, I'll change the wording in the relevant section when I have time to find an appropriate article with the correct temperature for in vivo activity (I think 20 degrees, but not certain).
