I think the popularity, or lack thereof, of AR was or is dependent on the writer's position in the sporting landscape. During my school years of 70s early 80s, aussie rules was largely ignored by all and sundry. This is merely anecdotal, as is claims otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.202.229 (talk) 01:34, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- No it wasn't. I'll get sources for you, but I'm pretty sure the biggest coverage in the Canberra Times of local sport was of Aussie Rules over all other codes. AFL-Cool (talk) 04:22, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- A perfect example of what I just said. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.223.90 (talk) 09:45, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you are in effect saying that the Canberra Times was ignored by all and sundry I'm afraid I'll have to call that unrealistic. And unverifiable - therefore incorrect. AFL-Cool (talk) 04:09, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

2024 re-write
[edit]2024 is the centenary of the establishment of an Australian football competition in the Canberra-Queanbeyan region. A considerable amount of work is being done on the competition's history this year, including a re-write of this page (and associated pages) to include new information, correct inaccuracies, etc.
RE: 2024 re-write
[edit]@ACTfootyhistory: I really appreciate your efforts to fix up this page. The newspaper references would be much more helpful if they included things like the article name, and it would probably be best to split the ones with multiple dates so anyone using this doesn't have to track down the individual issues. Snowman304|talk 03:28, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, they should be right now, cheers ACTfootyhistory (talk) 23:46, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
