Consistency with "Separation of Queensland article"?
[edit]The "Separation of Queensland" article states:
"... vanguard of those seeking representative government was the Reverend John Dunmore Lang, representative for Moreton Bay in the New South Wales Legislative Council. Lang's call for the creation of a northern colony in 1844 was defeated in the Council by 26 votes to seven, and matters were held in abeyance until 1850 when the British Parliament passed the Australian Colonies Government Act, which enabled the creation of new Australian colonies with a similar form of government to New South Wales."
This provision of the 1850 Act if real (I don't know, hence my Wikipedia'ing the article) is extremely important and should be cited and its implications/consequences discussed. 2405:6E00:689:BF85:C9DD:E1F7:765A:94F2 (talk) 01:30, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- This article states that the Act was a "response to the demand of the Port Phillip and Moreton Bay settlers" but other than that does not hint at Queensland. Some more details about van Diemen's land etc. would be valuable too. Also would the Letters Patent separating NSW and Qld not have been equally effective in the absence of the 1850 Act?
- This could all be set out succinctly, logically, and with relevant legislative citations for every proposition. Since I am going to have do my own private reading now to answer my questions, I could edit the article later, if it is something anyone cares about. 2405:6E00:689:BF85:C9DD:E1F7:765A:94F2 (talk) 01:40, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
