The local governing body i.e., City Corporation passed a resolution on name change in 1995. On 29 June 2022, the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra cabinet approved the renaming of Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar, after Sambhaji Bhosale, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire. which was approved by the government on 16 Sept 2023 103.79.252.185 (talk) 04:34, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

- Not done: Please see the 6 similar requests above. This was discussed recently and the consensus was to keep the current name. Jamedeus (talk) 05:31, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Now it is Nov 2024 and the name Chatrapati Sambhajinagar has become a well known common name to the public , request to consider changing it now , it is already quite some time and wikipedia can't keep on sitting like this and refuse to move ahead with public and government Sauradual (talk) 05:38, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with Sauradual. The city has truly been renamed to Chh. Sambhajinagar. Keeping the old name active is just an appeasement tactic to cater to muslims. I get it it was the common name but even now the name has changed for the common people as well. Do the needful mods. 116.72.94.230 (talk) 14:32, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
