Amended death date
[edit]This appears to be the source
but is misrepresented by the text added. The witnesses didn't witness the alleged 1764 transaction, and we don't have the deed, at least not here.
It's said the will was proved in 1762. If that's correct, there are several possibilities:
- 1764 is a mistake
- the land was bought from the estate, or from Ann as surviving joint owner
- the land was bought from a different Augustine Washington.
Since a Washington-Hodges deal is very peripheral to an article about the Hipkins family (who were only witnesses, to a different deal) we can't expect too much precision. Not an ironclad case for the change. FitzwilliamDarcy (talk) 21:50, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
- The 1764 date is simply incorrect, it's a derivation from another document which itself is not sourced directly. Every other single source I have consulted gives the year of death as 1762 so am changing the date and citing refs. Shearonink (talk) 22:19, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
