Confusion

[edit]

I'm pretty sure this article is confusing two different tracks. Augusta International Raceway (a three-mile road course) was open only in 1963 (for the 1964 Grand National season), and abandoned after that. At the same time, the Augusta International Speedway (a half-mile dirt track, later paved) opened in 1961 and hosted Grand National events through 1969 before it was closed down in 1970.

This is according to just one source, however - the other source clearly indicates two tracks but titles them both with "Speedway", which doesn't help.

Anyone got a definitive answer to this? Duncan1800 (talk) 07:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Augusta International Raceway is a dedicated 3 mile road circuit located within the Augusta International Speedway 8 track complex.
