Content removal discussion
[edit]The content I keep reinserting is cited. Please explain your reasoning for its removal.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:55, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that the material complies with sourcing and citing policies, and therefore should be included. There is a possible question of undue weight, since this addition means doping allegations now take up more than half (165 of 301 words) of the "Career" section. I think th solution is to re-write the entire paragraph instead of adding the contested sentence again. I propose this, which is reduced to 95 words but contains substantially the same information (citations indicated but not included):
During his athletic career, Wolf was suspended from competition on two occasions. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) initially banned Wolf for life after ruling he had refused post-match testing on July 7, 1985 in Byrkjelo, Norway[5]. Supported by the USA Track & Field Federation, he appealed citing errors in the testing notification. The ban was reduced to an eighteen month suspension and he returned to competition in 1987.[6][7] After the 1989 Indoor Nationals he was again suspended after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels, but the Athletics Congress overturned that suspension on appeal.[8]
- Are there any objections to that formulation? --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 15:52, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- I assume you are responding for my request for advice at WP:BLPN. I think both Bondhammer and Awolf99 have expressed reservation to this content. They are the people who need to sign off on it. I approve it being in the article and am fine with a more concise version. I wish that I were able to document more of Wolf's career with WP:RS so that this content did not seem so out of proportion.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:26, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, it was because you posted there that I decided to try to contribute here. Since you have already notified Bondhammer, I will let Awolf99 know that this discussion is going on. --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:37, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- I haven't notified either, but I think that they should have been pinged about being mentioned here.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:44, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
- It must have slipped your mind: User talk:Bondhammer. Not that I expect you to remember every edit you've made. Or is there a different method of notification you were meaning? --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 00:37, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- That was last Feb.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:09, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, that was kind of stupid of me not to notice the date.
I'll ping him/her again.Apologies for the assumption. --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 11:02, 12 November 2013 (UTC)- If neither of these guys responds by the weekend, we will just make the change.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:16, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. --Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 15:04, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
