The argument
[edit]I have just tried to clarify some of the expression in the text. As the article refers to the scholarly discussions about the scribes and dialects, (a subject evidently important for this MS) the article could do with setting those debates out a little more clearly, as what is already here is not quite sufficient to present that valuable matter in the round. Also I think the opening statement that this MS represents an attempt by the subjugated English to throw off the Norman yoke and assert their national identity is, shall we say, an idea born of hindsight, rather than a measured statement about the emergence of English vernacular literature?
