Untitled
[edit]The Wikipedia article on Attack ads was extremely thorough. The citations were neutral and reliable taken from journals, newspapers, and scholars. The jargon within the article was also all linked to their wikipedia pages explaining their meaning. The article also has fairly recent facts and sources used, dating from 2013, that bring relevance to "attack ads". However, there could be more information highlighting attack ads in regards to the latest presidental election of Donald Trump and his opponenent Hillary Clinton to update the page and make it more relevant. Overall, the web page was extremely informative with reliable sources used, proper citations, and links to help explain the jargon used. What information could be added to this page in order to make it more current and relevant to society today? Article needs improvements
[edit]Some passages are probably best moved in the Negative ads article, and other statements need to be verified with external references to reliable publications. rhyre (talk) 08:49, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
What I didn't find in the article: "anonymous"
[edit]I was hoping to find some kind of comparison of the effectiveness of anonymous attack ads versus ads that are clearly coming from the candidate who is sending them. Just an impression, but it seems that the attacker loses some reputation for being too obviously involved, or maybe their is discounting because of the obvious vested interest. (What I did find in the article was that the historical coverage was very spotty and rather anecdotal. Such political ads go way back, but I wonder if anyone has actually tried to measure the trends, especially in relation to all of the political advertising.) Dukakis tank ride
[edit]Check out this video. I don't remember, and can not find mention in google, of the use of back-ground gears grinding or the media interpretation that the thread discusses. It was more the image of a "little man" who looked like Snoopy with the giant helmet on his head. I think the articles interpretation of the incident may be OR. In which case it needs a rewrite. - I did find this]. but the message was more of how Dukakis looked rather than how he drove the tank. As one blogger at the time said, "He looked like Beetle Bailey." Not exactly presidential.Buster Seven Talk 08:12, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
