Multiple issues December 2022

[edit]

As I see it, this article has the appearance of a hodge podge of information. Some sections are well written and referenced, but the article as a whole needs a lot of work to bring it up to a even a reasonable standard. I've added the {{multiple issues}} template to the article for the following reasons:

  • For a start, it has no infobox
  • There are no inline citations throughout most of the article, and few citations in the rest.
  • The content badly needs to be reorganised. The level3 section 'industry' should be a section on its own, but most of the current content in that subsection should remain under the level2 section 'History'. The new level2 section 'Industry' would focus on and expand the meagre mentions that modern industry receives in the current article. Especially important are agriculture and tourism, but many others exist.
  • The second half of the 'History' section that deals with exploration by Europeans is disjunctive, slipping back and forth in time, and has poor wikilinking practices.

The above is, of course, just my opinions. I welcome some discussion on how we can improve the article either collaboratively or individually. Keen to see your replies.  Junglenut |Talk  12:32, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An infobox with basic details has been added.  Junglenut |Talk  23:48, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
